TMC Urges Muslim Unity During Ilorin Visit
Delegation presents Holy Qur’an, prays for wisdom and success in the Chief Imam’s new role

The The Muslim Congress (TMC) has urged Muslims to remain united as members of the organisation paid a congratulatory visit to the newly appointed Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani.
Speaking during the visit, Harun Ali said the organisation remains committed to promoting Islam and strengthening unity among Muslims. He prayed for Allah to bless the new Chief Imam with wisdom, good health and guidance as he begins his leadership of the Muslim community.
Harun described the appointment as a landmark moment for Islam in Kwara State, noting that although Sheikh Dasuki had enjoyed a long-standing relationship with members of the Congress, his elevation to the office of Chief Imam marked a new chapter in the religious history of the Ilorin Emirate.
Also speaking, Nafiu Mikail, a professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Ilorin, said the appointment answered the prayers of many Muslims who desired continued progress for Islam in the emirate. He expressed hope that the new Chief Imam would strengthen Islamic scholarship, uphold the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and promote peaceful coexistence with followers of other faiths.
Another member of the delegation, Mustapha Taiye Agaka, encouraged Muslims to support the Chief Imam through prayers, cooperation and loyalty so he could successfully discharge the responsibilities of his office.
In his remarks, Hussein Onitira described the appointment as the reward for the sacrifices and sincere efforts of past Islamic scholars and community leaders who worked for the growth of Islam in Ilorin. He expressed confidence that Allah would continue to guide the new Chief Imam in serving the Muslim Ummah.
Members of the Congress also commended the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for approving the appointment of Sheikh Dasuki after the recommendation of the Emirate’s Council of Ulama.
Abubakar Olatunji Imam Fulani, who represented the Chief Imam thanked the delegation for the visit and praised TMC for its continued efforts in Islamic propagation, education and humanitarian service.
He noted that the organisation had brought together Muslims from different professions, ethnic backgrounds and regions under the common bond of Islam. He added that Islam encourages unity among believers while also teaching Muslims to live peacefully with people of other faiths.
The Chief Imam urged members of the Congress to remain committed to promoting Islamic values, knowledge, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence, stressing that sincerity and service to humanity are essential for the continued growth of Islam. During the visit, TMC presented a copy of the Holy Qur’an to the Chief Imam as a symbol of goodwill and prayers for a successful tenure.
