Settlers Invade Islamic Cemetery, Attack Palestinians in Hebron

Armed settlers, under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, stormed an Islamic cemetery and various neighborhoods in the old city of Hebron on Saturday, engaging in provocative acts and assaults against Palestinians.

According to sources, dozens of settlers entered the Islamic cemetery and roamed the streets of Jaber neighborhood, Tal Rumeida, and Al-Sahla, as well as the vicinity of the Ibrahimi Mosque. They reportedly threw stones at Palestinian homes near the mosque and around the Osama bin al-Munafed school, which has been converted into a religious institute called “Beth Romano” by settlers. The march began from the settlement of “Kiryat Arba,” built on Palestinian lands east of Hebron, and extended to other settlement outposts within the city.

Later in the evening, settlers attacked Palestinian citizens in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, resulting in injuries and arrests. Anti-settlement activist Osama Makhamreh reported that settlers from the “Havat Ma’on” settlement targeted the home of fellow activist Hafez Al-Harini in Al-Tuwana village, assaulting his family and injuring two members. Subsequently, Israeli forces arrested Al-Harini.

In a related incident, Israeli soldiers raided the home of Muhammad Tayeh Makhamreh in Ma’in village, east of Yatta, causing significant property damage during the operation.

These incidents have further escalated tensions in the region, drawing condemnation from Palestinians and rights activists over the ongoing settler aggression and occupation policies in Hebron.
