Pezeshkian Rejects ‘Surrender’ Pressure on Iran

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has rejected the idea that Iran could be forced into surrender through pressure, saying such an outcome is unrealistic and stressing that diplomacy must be based on mutual respect rather than coercion.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Pezeshkian said Iran has consistently honoured its commitments and has repeatedly sought peaceful solutions to avoid war, adding that all diplomatic options remain open from Tehran’s side.
He described attempts to force Iran into submission through pressure or threats as “an illusion,” arguing that dialogue built on respect is far more effective, safer and sustainable than conflict.
The remarks come amid continued strong statements from US President Donald Trump targeting Iran, with analysts noting the contrast between such rhetoric and earlier moments where ceasefires were declared or extended during periods of heightened tension.
Iranian officials maintain that Tehran is only willing to return to negotiations if its conditions are met, including an end to hostilities, removal of sanctions and lifting of what it calls an illegal naval blockade.
