The Muslim Community of Oyo State (MUSCOYS) has expressed strong appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for appointing Professor Musibau Babatunde as the Secretary to the Oyo State Government, describing the move as a boost for Muslims and a clear signal of inclusive governance.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of MUSCOYS, Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni, and its Secretary-General, Alhaji Murisiku Abidemi Siyanbade, the Islamic body said the recent cabinet reshuffle was reassuring to the Muslim community across the state. It noted that the appointment showed that competence among Muslims is being recognized at the highest levels of government.
MUSCOYS recalled that Professor Babatunde, a Muslim scholar and public servant, previously served as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, where he earned respect for diligence, transparency, and professionalism. His elevation to Secretary to the State Government, the group said, was a natural progression based on merit.
The community described the new SSG as a distinguished expert in energy economics, international economics, and macroeconomics, adding that his academic background and administrative experience would strengthen governance in Oyo State. It said his performance had brought pride to the Muslim community.
According to the statement, Governor Makinde’s decision reflects fairness and balance in appointments, reassuring Muslims that they remain valued stakeholders in the political and developmental process of the state. The group said such gestures promote unity and trust across religious lines.
MUSCOYS said the governor must have carefully observed Professor Babatunde’s integrity, discipline, and leadership qualities, which are rooted in strong Islamic values, before entrusting him with what it described as “the enviable position of Secretary to the Oyo State Government.”
While congratulating Professor Babatunde, the Muslim community offered prayers for Allah’s guidance, wisdom, and protection as he assumes office. It also prayed for continued peace, justice, and progress in Oyo State under Governor Makinde’s leadership.
