By Abdullahi Yusuf
The National Chairman of Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, has called on all Imams and Muslim scholars in the country to preach peaceful coexistence and pray for Nigeria’s unity and progress during their Friday Jumu’ah prayers.
In a statement issued on behalf of the organization, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau urged Imams to emphasize the importance of peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
He also called on them to pray for the Country, because we have no other country than Nigeria
“Let us ask Allah to bless Nigeria with peace, prosperity, and stability,” he prayed.
The organization under the Leadership of Sheikh Abdullahi, is known for its fight against Bid’ah. Since the founding of the movement by Sheikh Ismaila Idris in 1978, the primary focus is inviting people to Islam on the basis of the Qur’an and the Sunna and fighting against any innovation.
Today the Izala is one of the largest Islamic societies not only in Northern Nigeria, but also in the South and even in the neighbouring countries (Chad, Niger, and Cameroon).
