NAHCON Appoints Alhaji Alidu Shutti As Acting Secretary of the Commission
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON has announced a new Secretary for the Commission in Acting Capacity.
In a press release, by Fatima Sanda Usara the Assistant Director, Alh. Alidu Shittu is named as the acting secretary of the Commission.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has approved appointment of Alhaji Alidu Shutti as Acting Secretary of the Commission with immediate effect.
This appointment follows the voluntary retirement of Dr Abdullahi Rabi’u Kontagora on 6th of December 2024. Before the new appointment, Alhaji Shutti has been Director Inspectorate and Compliance in the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON)
since 2023. Director Shutti will hold the Acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive Secretary to the Commission.
Alhaji Shutti has served the Commission in various capacities from 2007 to date. A seasoned Hajj and Umrah administration and dedicated staff of NAHCON, he rose through the ranks from lower rungs of Civil Service cadre to become a Director.
He has served as Head- Tour Operators Division, Assistant Director- Licensing
Division, Deputy Director- States and Zones, Deputy Coordinator- Makkah Office (2022 & 2023) and counting. Alhaji Shutti bagged academic qualifications including Masters in Public Administration (MPA), Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies and a Diploma in Journalism as well. He gathered additional knowledge on Hajj from attending related local and international seminars in the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia among others.
Having displayed a deep understanding of Hajj operations, Alhaji Shutti is perceived as possessing the requisite expertise to run the office of Acting Secretary that will lead to a seamless and successful Hajj operation.
NAHCON serves as the regulatory body responsible for overseeing and coordinating Hajj and Umrah operations in Nigeria. The Commission ensures compliance with international standards and facilitates seamless pilgrimages for Nigerian Muslims. It operates under a government-approved quota system, currently managing 95,000 slots for Hajj operations annually.
