Museum of Islamic Art nominated for Most Significant Building of the 21st Century

The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) is among the nominees for the Most Significant Building of the 21st Century, by the influential architecture and design magazine Dezeen.
The candidates of the contest are those listed in the magazine’s series titled, “21st-Century Architecture: 25 Years 25 Buildings” which features one notable building per year for the past 25 years.
“To conclude our 21st-Century Architecture: 25 Years 25 Buildings series we are asking Dezeen readers to vote for the most significant building of the 21st century,” the magazine said on its website.
MIA is joined with other prestige architectural wonders such as the Tate Modern by Herzog & de Meuron, Moriyama House by Ryue Nishizawa, Walt Disney Concert Hall by Frank Gehry, Burj Khalifa by SOM, Bosco Verticale by Stefano Boeri and more.
The Museum of Islamic Art designed by IM Pei was nominated for being the most significant building in 2008 by Dezeen, and was dubbed as the first “mega-museum in the Gulf”. Dezeen stated that the winner will be announced later this year.
