MSSN Lagos Set to Train Thousands of Muslim Youths as 114th IVC Begins in Epe

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit (MSSNLagos), has officially commenced its 114th Islamic Vacation Course (IVC), a transformative annual camping programme designed to educate and inspire Muslim youths. The event, themed “The Message”, began at the society’s Human Capital Development Centre (HCDC) in Noforija, Epe, Lagos. and will run through Monday, December 30, 2024.

With over 5,000 Muslim students expected to participate, this year’s IVC promises to be a historic one. According to MSSNLagos’ Amir (President), Mal. Kamoldeen Abiona, the event marks a significant milestone as it adopts a unified, one-phase camping structure, bringing together secondary school students, undergraduates, and professionals for the first time.

“This is not just another IVC; it is an opportunity to reflect on ‘The Message’—the core teachings of Islam,” Abiona said. He added that the unified structure aims to foster unity and create a richer spiritual experience for all delegates.

This year’s IVC features a blend of spiritual, academic, and career-development activities, with sessions led by renowned Islamic scholars and industry leaders. Participants will engage in programmes designed to strengthen their faith, impart enduring values, and equip them with tools for success in their personal and professional lives.

Abiona emphasized the significance of the theme, stating, “The Message is a call to reconnect with the foundational teachings of Islam, highlighting its relevance in today’s world. Delegates should prepare to grow spiritually, academically, and professionally.”

The camp will provide interactive and exciting activities, combining spiritual awakening with practical insights. “Delegates can expect a well-rounded programme that blends faith-based teachings with life skills from professionals across various sectors,” Abiona said.

To ensure smooth logistics, MSSNLagos partnered with the Lagos Bus Service Limited (LBSL) to offer subsidized transportation for delegates. Strategic movement schedules across the state have also been implemented to facilitate seamless commuting to the camp.

In addition, MSSNLagos has fortified its protocol and security teams to manage the large crowd and maintain order throughout the event. Officials arrived early to ensure adequate preparations and a seamless admission process for delegates.

As part of the IVC, the Graduate Members Association (GRAMA), an MSSNLagos organ, will host special enlightenment sessions on career growth and networking. With a focus on “Pyramids of Professional Growth”, these sessions aim to empower delegates with actionable strategies for career development and spiritual growth.

One of the highlights will be a session led by Dr. Adebola Akindele, Group Managing Director of Courteville Business Solutions Plc, who will share insights on navigating professional challenges and unlocking potential.

MSSNLagos encouraged Muslim students across Lagos and beyond to take advantage of this life-changing platform to deepen their faith and forge lasting connections. “This year’s IVC is more than an event; it’s a defining moment to inspire delegates to live impactful lives guided by Islamic principles,” Abiona noted.

With its rich lineup of activities and commitment to delivering a transformative experience, the 114th IVC is set to leave an indelible mark on participants, inspiring them to embody “The Message” in their daily lives.
