Mawlid: AmeenuLlahi Akoshile Urges Muslims to Turn Faith Into Service
Tiuaniyya Khalifa calls for charity, reconciliation and compassion as Muslims mark the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)

The Grand Khalifah of Faydah Tijaniyyah in Lagos State, His Eminence El Khalifa Maulana As-Sheikh AmeenuLlahi Abd’Salam Akoshile, has called on Muslims to use the occasion of Mawlid to renew their commitment to mercy, justice, generosity and unity.
Akoshile made the call in his 1448 AH/2026 Mawlid message, describing the commemoration of the Prophet’s birth as more than a celebration and urging Muslims to reflect on his character and its relevance to contemporary society.
He said the life of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) offered Muslims a model of truthfulness, justice, humility, generosity and compassion, urging the faithful to make those qualities more visible in their dealings with one another.
“As we rejoice, let us also reflect. Let us purify our hearts,” Akoshile said, calling on Muslims to increase their salutations upon the Prophet, visit one another, feed the hungry, clothe the needy and reconcile those who have fallen out.
He said such acts should form part of the practical meaning of Mawlid.
The Tijaniyya leader extended his greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and beyond, particularly members of the Tijaniyya brotherhood in Lagos State, while also offering his goodwill to people of all backgrounds.
He said the values associated with the Prophet’s life remained relevant to contemporary society, particularly at a time when communities continue to face division, hardship and social tensions.
Akoshile also used the occasion to pray for Nigeria, asking Allah to grant the country peace, heal its challenges and open avenues of sustenance and progress for its people.
He called for unity among Nigerians and prayed for wisdom for the country’s leaders to govern with justice and compassion.
The Grand Khalifah also prayed for the protection of children, the acceptance of Muslims’ acts of worship and blessings upon families across the country.
He urged Muslims to allow love to overcome hatred and unity to prevail over division, presenting the Mawlid as an opportunity for spiritual renewal as well as greater responsibility towards society.
