Israel attacks Rafah: Journalists including Al Jazeera reporter, wounded

An Israeli airstrike in Rafah, in southern Gaza, has injured an Al Jazeera Arabic correspondent and a photojournalist who was reporting with him.
William Burns, the director of the CIA, is in Cairo for the most recent round of talks aimed at achieving a ceasefire that would allow for the release of Palestinian prisoners and captives.
Over 1.4 million Palestinians are seeking sanctuary in Rafah, and Israel is planning a ground attack. King Abdullah II of Jordan informs US President Joe Biden that the world “cannot afford” this.
Since October 7, at least 28,473 Palestinians have died and 68,146 have been injured as a result of Israeli assaults on Gaza. As of October 7, 1,139 people have died in Israel as a result of attacks spearheaded by Hamas.
Antonio Tajani, the foreign minister of Italy, calls Israel’s bombing of Gaza, where the number of civilian deaths is rising, “disproportionate.”
In his statement with the press, he said that “at this point, Israel’s reaction against the Palestinian civilian population is disproportionate… there are too many victims who have nothing to do with Hamas” despite vehemently denouncing the October 7 Hamas strikes and upholding Israel’s right to self-defence.
