Islamic Emirate Urges UN to Help Afghan Returnees at Pakistan Border

Afghanistan’s Islamic Emirate has called on the United Nations and international aid agencies to engage with Pakistan over the treatment of Afghan returnees and help ease difficulties at the border.
The appeal was made by the High Commission for Addressing Migrants’ Problems, which said the matter requires urgent attention.
According to the commission, many Afghan nationals returning through the Torkham crossing are being delayed for days on the Pakistani side for different reasons.
It said women, children and elderly people are among those most affected, with many left waiting in difficult and uncertain conditions along the roadside.
The commission urged that Afghan migrants should not be kept waiting across the border and asked for faster processing of returnees.
Officials also said Afghanistan has the capacity to receive and resettle those returning, regardless of the number arriving each day.
They added that the necessary services are available to manage incoming returnees and support their relocation.
The statement comes amid continued movement of Afghan families returning from neighbouring Pakistan.
