Iran Says US-Israeli Strategy to Hit Key Industries Failed

Iran’s Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref says the United States and Israel failed in their attempt to weaken the country’s economy by targeting key industrial facilities during a weeks-long military campaign that began in late February.
Aref made the remarks on Saturday during a meeting with senior executives of Iran’s steel and petrochemical sectors.
He said attacks on major industrial sites were aimed at damaging production, creating unemployment, and stirring public unrest, but insisted the strategy did not succeed.
According to him, Iran is now moving quickly to rebuild damaged facilities, with reconstruction efforts progressing faster than expected.
He added that the government is fully committed to supporting the recovery and modernization of affected industries.
Iran’s steel and petrochemical sectors play a major role in its non-oil economy and provide significant employment, particularly for young people.
The vice president said key facilities, including the Mobarakeh Steel complex and Khuzestan Steel, were among those targeted, along with petrochemical units in the Assaluyeh region.
He directed officials to speed up repair and restoration work on damaged plants to ensure full production resumes as soon as possible.
