The Day of Jumu’ah – Golden Words of Allah (episode38)

Whoever misses three Jumu’ah prayers out of negligence, Allah will place a seal over his heart. Hadith-(Sunan Abu Dawood)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. All perfect praise be to Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, the Lord of the Worlds. We testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, (pbuh), is His slave and Messenger.

Introduction
Friday, known as Yawm al-Jumu’ah, holds a special place in Islam as the most blessed day of the week. It is a day of congregational prayer, spiritual renewal, and increased blessings. The Quran and Hadith emphasize its significance, encouraging Muslims to engage in worship, supplication, and acts of goodness. The Jumu’ah prayer replaces the regular Dhuhr prayer for men, bringing the community together in devotion. This sacred day serves as a reminder of faith, unity, and preparation for the Hereafter.

1. Friday the Best Day of the Week
The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) described Friday as the most virtuous day, surpassing all others in blessings and divine mercy.
Quranic reference: “O you who believe! When the call to prayer is made on the day of Jumu’ah (Friday), then hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave off trade. That is better for you if only you knew. (Surah Al-Jumu’ah, 62:9).
Hadith Reference: The Prophet said, The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday. On it, Adam was created, on it, he was admitted to Paradise, and on it, he was expelled from it. And the Last Hour will not occur except on a Friday. (Sahih Muslim)

2. The Obligation of Jumu’ah Prayer
The Jumu’ah prayer is a sacred duty for Muslim men and a means of spiritual purification. It is a time for communal worship and reflection.
Quranic Reference: “And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek the bounty of Allah, and remember Allah often so that you may succeed.” (Surah Al-Jumu’ah, 62:10).

3. The Special Hour of Acceptance of Dua
Friday contains a sacred hour in which supplications are surely answered.
Hadith Reference: The Prophet (pbuh) said, On Friday, there is an hour during which, if a Muslim stands in prayer and asks Allah for something, He will surely grant it. (Sahih Bukhari & Muslim).

Scholars differ on the exact time of this hour, but many believe it is either between Asr and Maghrib or during the Jumu’ah sermon and prayer.

4. Reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Friday
Reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Friday brings immense blessings and serves as protection from trials, especially the Dajjal (Antichrist).
Hadith Reference: The Prophet (pbuh) said, Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on Friday will have a light shining for him between this Friday and the next. (Al-Hakim)

5. Increased Rewards for Acts of Worship
Good deeds performed on Friday carry greater rewards, making it a day of abundant spiritual benefit.
Quranic Reference: “And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.” (Surah Adh-Dhariyat, 51:55).
Hadith Reference: The Prophet (pbuh) said, Whoever performs Ghusl on Friday, comes early to the mosque, listens attentively, and does not engage in idle talk, for every step he takes, he will receive the reward of fasting and praying Qiyam for one year. (Sunan At-Tirmidhi)

6. Sending Salawat (Blessings) Upon the Prophet
Friday is a highly recommended day for increasing salawat (sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad, pbuh).
Hadith Reference: The Prophet (pbuh) said, Increase your sending of blessings upon me on Friday, for your blessings are presented to me. (Sunan Abu Dawood)

7. Cleansing and Grooming for Friday Prayer
The Prophet emphasized personal hygiene and good appearance for Friday prayer, promoting cleanliness and self-discipline.
Hadith Reference: The Prophet (pbuh) said, Taking a bath on Friday is obligatory (recommended) for every adult male, as is using the miswak and applying perfume. (Sahih Bukhari & Muslim)

8. The Reminder of the Day of Judgment
Friday serves as a reminder of the Hereafter, as it is believed that the Day of Judgment will occur on a Friday. This should encourage believers to engage in worship and repentance.
Hadith Reference: The Prophet (pbuh) said, The Last Hour will not come except on a Friday. (Sahih Muslim)

Conclusion
Yawm al-Jumu’ah is a day of blessings, worship, and community in Islam. It carries numerous virtues, including the Jumu’ah prayer, the hour of acceptance, the recitation of Surah Al-Kahf, and increased salawat upon the Prophet. Every Friday is an opportunity for renewal and seeking Allah’s mercy. By making the most of this blessed day, believers strengthen their faith and prepare for the Hereafter.
