Didi Farms and DHS International Distribute 1,000 Palliatives in Abuja

In a remarkable display of humanitarian service, Didi Farms and Food Services Ltd., in collaboration with DHS International, distributed 1,000 10kg bags of rice to orphans and people with disabilities at the National Mosque Main Hall, Abuja. The event, which combined charity with spirituality, also featured a national prayer session for the country’s progress and a tribute to the late Alhaji M. Muazu Muhammad Barnewa, a recently deceased director of DHS International.

The event opened with a prayer session led by Mallam Musa Aliyu Jahun, seeking divine blessings for the nation and the continued support of the less privileged.

Delivering the introduction speech, Ambassador Dr. Ibrahim Bala Aboki, National Chairman of DHS International, emphasized the organization’s mission to alleviate hardship among vulnerable Nigerians. He noted that the initiative aimed to not only combat hunger but also to reduce street begging by equipping people with disabilities with necessary skills and opportunities to become self-reliant.

“Today, we stand together to launch this momentous event presenting 1,000 palliatives to orphans and people with disabilities. This is part of our ongoing effort to uplift the less privileged, following in the footsteps of our Grand Patron, His Excellency, the Vice President of Nigeria, a man of integrity and unwavering commitment to public service,” Aboki stated.

He further stressed the importance of collective support, calling for government and private sector partnerships to drive long-term empowerment initiatives.

In his welcome address, Alhaji Misbahu Lawan Didi, Chairman/CEO of Didi Farms and Food Services Ltd., shared a personal reflection on breaking barriers as a physically challenged entrepreneur. He emphasized that disability should not define one’s limitations, urging the government and society to provide greater support for business-driven empowerment initiatives.

“I stand before you today as the only physically challenged individual who owns a rice mill in Nigeria, producing over 50,000 bags daily. This is more than just a business it is a statement that disability is not inability. I need government encouragement and investment to scale this venture, not just for myself but for others like me who want to contribute to nation-building,” Didi declared.

He also highlighted his role as a pioneer of parasoccer and his advocacy as the first APC National Disability Leader and Chairman of the Association of Polio Survivors of Nigeria. His work has contributed to Nigeria’s removal from the list of polio-endemic nations.

Didi reaffirmed that the distribution was done in honour of Vice President Kashim Shettima, who has remained a steadfast supporter of people with disabilities in Nigeria. He urged the federal government to prioritize purchasing locally produced rice to help boost the economy and further sustain charitable efforts like this.

Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje commended the initiative in their goodwill messages. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting marginalized groups and called for continued collaborations to improve food security and economic inclusion for people with disabilities.

The occasion was graced by an array of dignitaries, underscoring the significance of the initiative. Among those present were: His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Shettima, the Vice President of Nigeria, Patron DHS International, represented by his Brother. His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), represented by Professor Abdulkarim Kana, SAN, National Legal Adviser of APC. As the event concluded, Didi Farms announced that similar palliative distributions would take place in rural areas of Kano State, reinforcing the commitment to extending the reach of humanitarian efforts.
