Islamic clerics representing various sects have expressed their commendation for the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for his involvement in the recent successful operation that led to the elimination of the notorious bandit leader, Halilu Sububu, along with several of his followers.
During a formal visit to the minister’s office in Abuja, the clerics, led by Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, highlighted the significance of the operation, emphasizing its importance in improving security in the region. Dr. Umar noted that the success followed swiftly after President Bola Tinubu’s directive for security chiefs to relocate to affected areas to address the escalating insecurity.
“As religious leaders and representatives of our communities, we are here to express our deep appreciation for the success in neutralizing the bandits’ leader and his followers,” Umar said. He further acknowledged the role of the Tinubu administration in prioritizing the protection of lives and property. “The immediate response of President Tinubu’s administration to the security crisis has yielded positive results, and the security situation has notably improved.”
Dr. Umar expressed optimism about future operations, urging the government to sustain the current security measures. “We pray that efforts will continue until other bandit leaders, such as Bello Turji, are also neutralized. We have full confidence in the minister and the security agencies to bring an end to the prevailing insecurity.”
In addition to their praise, the clerics called on Nigerians to maintain prayers for peace and stability across the country, particularly in regions affected by insecurity. They also offered prayers for the minister and the heads of security agencies, asking for their continued success in safeguarding the nation.
