CID Arrests Suspect for Impersonating Imam of Masjid Nabawi

The Bangladesh CID Police arrested one person from Bhola on charge of cheating a woman and realized Taka 5.5 lakh personifying himself as Imam of Masjid-e-Nabawi in Saudi Arabia.
He was identified as Md Sabuj, CID said.
A team of CID Cyber Police Centre with the help of information technology identified the location of Md Sabuj and arrested him from Mulai Potton area under Borhan Uddin upazila of Bhola district, Bangladesh, a CID police said.
Police said, a retired woman officer has been suffering family feud with her daughter-in-law for a long time and at one stage, she contacted Md Sabuj knowing about him from a facebook advertisement. Sabuj personified himself as ‘Dorbesh Baba’ and Imam of Masjid-e-Nabawi in Saudi Arabia and demanded money from her. As per the demand, the woman paid Taka 550,000 through mobile banking.
Sabuj also told her not to disclose the issue to anybody and if disclose, lives of her son and daughter-in-law will be endangered, police said, adding that at one stage of mobile conversation, the woman became doubtful about the so-called Dorbesh.
The woman later filed a cheating case against Sabuj with Kalabagan Thana on November 19 and the CID police with the help of Kalabagan Thana arrested Md Sabuj from Bhola.
The CID police stated that the arrested Sabuj confessed that he, along with his local accomplices, had been engaged in such deceptive activities in the area. They had been deceiving innocent people through Facebook, YouTube, and Imo, personifying themselves as Dorbesh Baba.
The CID Cyber Police Centre has been working to track down the gang and bring them to justice.
