A boy has been killed and several worshippers injured after armed bandits attacked a mosque during Maghrib (evening) prayers in Namama community, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to a security analyst, Bakatsine, who shared the report on X, the attackers stormed the mosque while worshippers were observing prayers amid heavy rainfall and opened fire inside the mosque.

The assault led to the death of a young boy identified as Adamu, while several other worshippers sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

The attackers reportedly fired indiscriminately before fleeing the scene.

Bakatsine said prayers were ongoing for the recovery of the injured victims.

The incident has raised renewed concern over attacks on Muslim worshippers in places of worship and the security situation in parts of northern Nigeria.
