Ahmadiyya Nigeria Releases Communique on Majlis Anasrullah 48th Annual National Ijtema Held in Abuja
Members of the Majlis Ansarullah Ahmadiyya Nigeria converged at the M.K.O. Abiola National Stadium (Package B), Abuja between Tuesday, 20th-Sunday, 25th August 2024 to hold the 48th edition of the Majlis Annual National Ijtema’ah on the theme: “Making Living Worthwhile for All: Islamic Solutions to Economic and Security Challenges”.
After extensive deliberations, participants at the convention reached the following agreements on the current situation of things in the Federal Republic of Nigeria:
– That Nigeria had once been a pride of place for both indigenes and non-indigenes alike, bearing upon prevailing peace, tranquillity and harmony in the country;
-That the numerous human and natural resources which Nigeria is richly and lavishly gifted with had once been a source of prosperity for all and sundry, resulting in great comfort and Paradise on earth for all;
– That Nigeria derailed quite significantly the moment our comfort went into our heads and we unwittingly allowed a severance in the nation’s intergenerational transfer of cultural heritage, moral values and societal ethical standards;
– That Nigeria as a country started to witness a reversal of fortunes as a result of the act of ingratitude to God, on the part of most Nigerian citizens by their flagrant disobedience to the directives of their Lord;
– That a land which used to flow honey and milk now became a land of hunger, fear and abject poverty for the masses of the people;
– That religious leaders who used to be sources of light, hope and guidance have also become so avaricious and rapacious in worldly pursuits that the poor masses are now left with no one empathizing with them;
– That wealth distribution in the country is now negatively skewed in favour of the privileged few and to the detriment of the less privileged many, causing lots of psychosocial imbalance, anxiety and agitations among the poor masses.
Solutions: Islamic Perspectives
– That peace can neither be decreed nor wished into existence, therefore, any human society that is desirous of peace must first embrace colourless justice;
– That expecting peace in the absence of justice is akin to wanting to pluck oranges on a mango tree;
– That leaders should remember that all human beings are creatures of God who deserve meaningful living;
– That the Nigerian government should embrace ethical practices driven by Islamic principle which promotes transparency and accountability;
– That we should prohibit Riba (interest) in the running of our economy;
– That the concept of profit/risk sharing as enshrined in Islamic banking and finance should be embraced in the management of the nation’s economy; and
– That a top-down attitudinal and orientational change must be imbibed by every Nigerian if the country must get out of this quagmire and achieve a paradigm shift.
– The executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Alh Engr Abdullah Sule, was ably represented by Alh Muhammad Bashir
– The Onah of Abaji and Chairman FCT Abuja Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty, Dr Adamu Baba Yunusa was also powerfully represented
-A total number of 640 patients were attended to.
– 167 people were screened for visual activity, 96 of whom received eyeglasses.
– 258 laboratory tests, including but not limited to, fasting blood sugar, malaria rapid tests, and blood pressure among many others were done. It is worthy of note that all the 640 patients had their prescribed drug
– The Sadr (President) of the Majlis, accompanied by some of his officers paid courtesy visits to notable dignitaries within the Abuja metropolis and neighbouring cities in the FCT
– The total number of participants at the convention was 2,235 people.
