Seven people have been killed and eight others injured in US missile strikes on three locations in Iran’s southern Khuzestan province, according to Iranian officials.

Khuzestan Deputy Governor Valiollah Hayati said the casualties resulted from strikes on three locations in the province, with areas around the cities of Ahvaz and Aghajari among those targeted. His account was reported by Iran’s state news agency, IRNA.

The strikes came as the United States launched a fresh wave of attacks against Iranian military targets, with US Central Command saying it had carried out operations against positions belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The latest attacks have added to a widening pattern of US-Iran military exchanges across southern Iran, with Iranian authorities reporting strikes in several locations.

Iranian media reported explosions on Qeshm Island and in the cities of Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Chabahar and Konarak following the US military announcement.

The Khuzestan strikes are significant because the province is one of Iran’s most important oil-producing regions, making attacks there particularly sensitive for the country’s energy infrastructure.

The latest casualty figures remain based on Iranian official reporting. The accounts identify the locations and casualties but do not provide a detailed breakdown of those killed or injured, nor do they independently establish the specific military targets struck at the three sites.

The attacks come amid renewed confrontation between Washington and Tehran, with the United States saying its military operations are aimed at degrading Iranian capabilities and responding to threats linked to the wider conflict.

Iranian authorities have continued to report casualties from US strikes while Tehran has threatened retaliation against American military assets in the region.

The latest deaths in Khuzestan add another human cost to a conflict that has increasingly extended beyond military installations, with the latest strikes raising fresh concerns over the impact of further escalation on Iran’s civilian population and critical infrastructure.
