Türkiye Urges Muslims to Reclaim Their Narrative

Türkiye has called on Muslim societies to take control of how their stories are told, warning that global influence is now shaped by narratives as much as by power.
Speaking at the Muslim Impact Forum 2026 in Istanbul, Burhanettin Duran, said the world is facing a serious crisis in the current international system.
He said recent events, including wars, pandemics, and growing distrust in global institutions, show that the world has entered a new and uncertain phase.
Duran noted that some major powers are no longer taking responsibility, while others are weakening the very system they helped build. He also said global institutions are becoming less effective in maintaining peace and stability.
He explained that the world has moved beyond the “communication age” into what he called an “age of narratives,” where shaping public opinion is now a key part of global competition.
According to him, conflicts today are not only fought on the battlefield but also through media, perception, and information. He warned about the dangers of fake content, misinformation, and propaganda.
Duran said Türkiye is focused on promoting accurate and reliable information, adding that building trust in communication is now a major priority.
He also highlighted Türkiye’s role in global diplomacy, pointing to its involvement in efforts to ease tensions in regions such as Iraq, Syria, Ukraine, and Gaza, as well as President ’s call for a fairer global system.
