JAMB Extends Deadline for Universities on 2025 Admissions

Board warns defaulting institutions, insists on strict timelines

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has shifted the deadline for the submission of final assessments for candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), particularly underage candidates, following delays by several universities.

This was contained in a statement by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, shortly after the National Examination Council (NECO) released the results of its 2025 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) on Wednesday.

According to the Board, 23 of the 71 universities chosen by affected candidates were yet to forward their Post-UTME screening scores as agreed, despite the September 15th deadline.

JAMB described the delay as “worrisome” and urged the defaulting institutions to comply immediately, noting that failure to submit screening results could jeopardise candidates’ chances of timely admission.

The Board also reminded public universities to upload their recommended candidates on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) not later than Tuesday, 30th September 2025, while private universities have until Friday, 31st October 2025.

It stressed that the admission deadlines of 30th October 2025 for public universities and 30th November 2025 for private institutions remain binding, in line with resolutions reached at the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions chaired by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON.

JAMB further warned that it would not entertain excuses from any university found defaulting, as the timelines were agreed upon collectively to ensure smooth and credible admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session.
