Ignorance (Golden Words of Allah Episode 62)
“No one who has an atom’s weight of arrogance in his heart will enter Paradise.” (Sahih Muslim 91)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. All perfect praise is due to Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, the Lord of the Worlds. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah, and Muhammad (pbuh), is His slave and final Messenger.
Introduction
Ignorance (al-jahl) in the Qur’an is not simply a lack of information. It is a state of darkness, blindness to the truth, and an obstacle to guidance. Allah warns repeatedly that ignorance leads to misguidance, injustice, arrogance, and spiritual ruin. The danger of jahl is not merely academic; it affects the heart, blinds the intellect, and keeps people chained to falsehood.
Allah says: “But most of them follow nothing but conjecture. Indeed, conjecture avails nothing against the truth.” (Qur’an 10:36)
When actions are taken without knowledge, people stray from Allah’s path. The Prophet (pbuh) said: “The cure for ignorance is to ask questions.” (Sunan Abu Dawood, Hadith 336)
Allah condemns blind imitation without proof: “When it is said to them, ‘Follow what Allah has revealed,’ they say, ‘Rather, we will follow that which we found our fathers doing’ even though their fathers understood nothing, nor were they guided?” (Qur’an 2:170)
The Prophet (pbuh) warned: “Whoever innovates something in this matter of ours that is not from it will have it rejected.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 2697)
Acting without understanding often leads to oppression and harm. Allah commands:
“And when you speak, be just, even if it concerns a near relative. And fulfill the covenant of Allah. This is what He has instructed you, that you may remember.” (Qur’an 6:152)
The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Be aware! Whosoever is unjust will appear on the Day of Resurrection with his injustices around his neck.” (Sahih Muslim 2581)
Ignorance often inflates the ego and leads to the rejection of divine truth. Allah says: “But those who disbelieve say, ‘This is nothing but a lie that he has invented, and another people assisted him in it.’ But they have produced an injustice and a lie.” (Qur’an 25:4)

The Qur’an calls mankind to ponder over creation and life. “Do they not reflect on themselves? Allah created the heavens and the earth… yet many people deny they will meet their Lord.” (Qur’an 30:8)
The Prophet (pbuh) said: “An hour’s reflection is better than seventy years of worship.” (Narrated by Ibn Hibban)
Allah commands: “Say, ‘Are those who know equal to those who do not know?’ Only those of understanding will take heed.” (Qur’an 39:9)
The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” (Sunan Ibn Majah 224)
Ignorance is one of the greatest enemies of faith. By overcoming ignorance, we protect our souls and walk firmly upon the path to Allah. May Allah (swt) guide us through and through, amin.
