Fashola, Obasa, Dikko, others set for Mumini Alao’s book launch Sunday

Ex-Lagos governor to speak on football reforms, Obasa to present autobiography

Preparations are in top gear for the public presentation of The Autobiography of Dr. Mumini Alao, scheduled to hold on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Tayo Aderinokun Lecture Theatre, University of Lagos, with a host of top dignitaries already confirming attendance.

Leading the list of confirmed guests is former Governor of Lagos State and one-time Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), who is billed to deliver a keynote lecture titled “Rethinking the Current Football Business Model in Nigeria As a Catalyst for Sports Development.”

Fashola reaffirmed his commitment to the event during a recent interaction with the author at the final of the ITTF Africa Youth Cup held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Tuesday, August 5.

Also set to play a prominent role at the event is the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, who will serve as the chief presenter of the autobiography. Obasa, a constituent of the author from the Agege area of Lagos, has expressed enthusiasm about the project and its significance to Nigerian sports journalism.

Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, will chair the occasion, and is expected to lead a high-powered delegation of sports administrators from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to witness the event.

Former Minister of Sports and current Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh, who co-authored the foreword of the book alongside football legend Nwankwo Kanu, is also listed among the distinguished guests.

Others expected include officials of federal and state sports associations, former Olympians, ex-internationals from the Super Eagles, journalists, fans, and members of the author’s family and professional circles.

Dr. Mumini Alao is a seasoned Nigerian sports journalist, author, and media entrepreneur. He is the Group Managing Director of Complete Communications Limited, publishers of Complete Football magazine and Complete Sports newspaper. He previously authored The Making of Nigeria’s Dream Team, chronicling the historic Atlanta ‘96 Olympic football gold medal feat.

His latest offering, an autobiographical work, promises an unfiltered account of his six-decade journey through life and journalism.

The book will be reviewed by Dr. Bolu John Folayan of the Department of Mass Communication, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, while SuperSport presenter, Mozez Praiz, will serve as the Master of Ceremony.

The event will be streamed live to a global audience via the Complete Sports YouTube channel.
