Muslim women’s group calls for immediate rescue of missing pupils, warns government to secure schools nationwide

The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic attack on schoolgirls in Kebbi State, mourning those killed and demanding swift action to locate the missing.

In a statement signed by National Amirah, Dr. Sumaye Fadimatu Hamza, and National PRO, Hauwa Kulu Abdullahi, the organisation extended condolences to grieving families and prayed for divine comfort.

“May Allah in His infinite mercy grant them eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus and comfort their families,” the group said.

FOMWAN also stood firmly with families whose daughters remain unaccounted for, urging security agencies to intensify rescue operations and ensure the girls’ safe and immediate return.

“No child should ever be exposed to violence, and our schools must be safe spaces for learning and growth,” it added.

The organisation called on federal and state authorities, alongside community leaders, to reinforce security around schools and address the root causes that leave children vulnerable to attacks.

FOMWAN stressed its continued commitment to advocating for the safety, dignity and wellbeing of every Nigerian child.

“May Allah protect our children and our nation,” the statement concluded.
