Abdulsamad Rabiu Commends ACF on 25 Years of Service

BUA Group chairman and Aliko Dangote pledge a combined ₦5 billion to support the Forum’s initiatives

Abdulsamad Rabiu, Chairman of the BUA Group, has praised the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) for its 25 years of advocacy and leadership at a ceremony marking the Forum’s silver jubilee. The event was attended by dignitaries including the Sultan of Sokoto, the Ooni of Ife, leaders of thought, captains of industry, and representatives of the Federal House of Representatives.

In his remarks, Rabiu described the ACF as a vital platform for unity, dialogue, and strong leadership in Northern Nigeria, highlighting its role in safeguarding regional heritage and providing a voice for the North. He noted the region’s resilience and contributions in agriculture, commerce, culture, and scholarship, while also acknowledging ongoing challenges such as insecurity, unemployment, and educational disparities.

“The North cannot thrive in isolation. True progress depends on cooperation among all regions North, South, East, and West. Unity, partnership and collaboration are essential for peace, security and sustainable development,” Rabiu said.

The BUA chairman recounted a past mediation by the ACF between him and Aliko Dangote over a dispute in Edo State, praising the Forum for its impartiality and commitment to reconciliation. He noted that the episode strengthened his relationship with Dangote, underlining the importance of dialogue and compromise.

Rabiu also commended the current government for reforms in infrastructure, security, education, and healthcare, emphasizing that communities across the North stand to benefit from a stable and prosperous Nigeria.

Looking ahead, he urged the Forum to continue focusing on youth empowerment, education, community security, and economic growth, emphasizing that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity and collaborative spirit.

At the conclusion of his speech, Rabiu announced a major donation to the Forum, encouraging others in a position to contribute. He revealed that he had coordinated with Aliko Dangote, and that both had pledged equal contributions, totalling ₦5 billion, to support the ACF’s programmes.

The 25th anniversary celebrations highlighted the Forum’s enduring role in promoting social cohesion, human development, and advocacy for Northern Nigeria, while setting a forward-looking agenda for collaboration and growth.
