Türkiye Rejects Claims of Role in Iran Strikes, Warns Against Disinformation
Ankara rejects social media claims linking it to U.S.-Israeli attacks, underscores diplomatic efforts amid Middle East tensions

The Republic of Türkiye has formally denied circulating social media assertions that it supported or participated in recent attacks by Israel and the United States against Iran, describing such claims as unfounded disinformation designed to mislead the public.
In an official statement, Ankara stressed that Türkiye does not permit its air, land, or maritime assets, including its airspace, to be used for operational purposes in any conflict to which it is not a party in a way that would favor one side.
The statement emphasized that this principle is a core tenet of Turkish foreign and security policy and remains unchanged amid the ongoing Israel-Iran escalation.
“Türkiye’s sovereign rights over its airspace, land territory, and maritime jurisdiction areas are full and indisputable,” the government said, adding that all activities within Turkish jurisdiction are conducted strictly in line with national security assessments and under the oversight of competent authorities.
The public was urged not to give credence to speculative and unsubstantiated claims and to rely only on statements issued by official government sources.
The denial aligns with earlier diplomatic messaging from Ankara opposing military escalation in the region and calling for de-escalation.
A Turkish diplomatic source told Reuters earlier this week that Turkey was evaluating potential measures in the event of an Iran–US conflict but strongly opposed any military intervention or actions that would violate Iran’s sovereignty.
Ankara also reiterated that it is actively engaging with both Tehran and Washington to ease tensions and prioritize diplomatic avenues.
Turkey’s position contrasts with media speculation linking it to wider regional war dynamics following harsh joint U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian cities, including Tehran, Isfahan and Qom, which have prompted Iranian threats of retaliation.
International responses have varied, with some countries condemning the strikes and urging a return to negotiations, and others expressing concern about regional stability.
