Our Women – Ramadan Digest (Day 11)

Muslim women balance family, work, and ibadah during Ramadan. Even when unable to fast due to menstruation, pregnancy, or breastfeeding, their sincerity earns them full rewards. The Prophet (pbuh) said: “When a servant of Allah falls ill or travels, he is credited with the same deeds he would have done if he were healthy or at home.” (Bukhari)

Women can engage in dhikr, dua, Qur’an recitation, and charity, making the most of every moment in Ramadan. A mother’s supplication is among the most powerful. The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Three supplications are never rejected: the supplication of a parent for his child, the supplication of the fasting person, and the supplication of the traveler.”(Tirmidhi)

As these few weeks approach, women are encouraged to increase their dua, seeking Laylatul Qadr and praying for their families and the Ummah.

Iran/United States/Israel – The United States and Israel launched a joint military strike on Iran during Ramadan, with multiple explosions reported across Tehran. Iranian media said missiles struck areas including University Street and the Jomhouri district. The Associated Press reported the strike occurred near offices of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. A U.S. official told Al Jazeera the operation was coordinated with American forces positioned in the region as part of efforts to pressure Iran over its nuclear program. The attack has drawn attention across the Muslim world as it occurred during the holy month of Ramadan.

Nigeria – Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, distributed 600 bags of rice in Abuja to Anioma indigenes observing Lent and Ramadan. The lawmaker described the donation as support to cushion economic hardship during the fasting season. He also urged constituents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections. Community leaders expressed appreciation for the intervention.

Nigeria -The Renewed Hope Initiative, led by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, distributed food items and ₦20,000 cash each to 2,000 vulnerable women in Borno State as part of its Ramadan relief program. The event, coordinated in Maiduguri by the wife of the state governor, aimed to ease economic hardship and address challenges faced by women affected by insurgency.

Nigeria – The Abuja branch of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria announced its 31st Annual Ramadan Lecture and Special Prayer for the Nation, scheduled for February 28, 2026, at its central mosque in Maitama. The lecture will examine Islamic teachings beyond the conduct of adherents and include prayers for national peace and unity.

United States – Houston’s annual Ramadan Iftar, now in its 27th year, is facing debate within parts of the Muslim community over political participation. Some community members have withdrawn support, citing concerns about the event’s association with city leadership. Organizers say the gathering remains a longstanding tradition intended to promote unity.

West Bank – Israeli settlers vandalized the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque in the town of Tell near Nablus during Ramadan, according to Palestinian officials. Worshippers reported broken glass, graffiti and fire damage at the mosque entrance. Security footage reportedly showed two individuals approaching the mosque before the incident. Authorities are reviewing the case.

Qur’an Verse of the Day

“Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women… Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward.” (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:35)

Hadiths

The Prophet (pbuh) said: “If a woman prays her five daily prayers, fasts her month (Ramadan), guards her chastity, and obeys her husband, she will enter Paradise from any of its gates she wishes.”(Ibn Hibban)

Aisha (RA) narrated that she asked the Prophet (pbuh):“O Messenger of Allah, will women get the same reward as men for their fasting, prayers, and charity?”

The Prophet (pbuh) replied: “Yes, when a woman observes her fast, prays her prayers, guards her modesty, and obeys her husband, she attains the same rank as the righteous men.” [Ibn Hibban (4252), Al-Mustadrak (1664)]
