Iran’s IRGC vows to ‘pursue and kill’ Israel’s Netanyahu

Israeli authorities dismiss viral social media rumours claiming the prime minister had been killed as tensions escalate between Tehran and Tel Aviv

Iran’s powerful military institution, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has issued a threat against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amid escalating tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States.

In remarks published on Sepah News, a media outlet affiliated with the IRGC, the force said it would continue to pursue Netanyahu, accusing him of responsibility for civilian deaths during Israel’s military campaigns.

“If this child-killing criminal is alive, we will continue to pursue and kill him with full force,” the statement said, according to Iranian media reports.

The comments come at a time of heightened regional tensions following a series of confrontations and retaliatory threats between Tehran, Tel Aviv and Washington.

Over the weekend, social media platforms were flooded with unverified claims suggesting that Netanyahu had been killed. The rumours spread rapidly online, prompting a swift response from Israeli officials.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) dismissed the claims as false, while officials from the Israeli prime minister’s office moved to reassure the public.

In a statement, Netanyahu’s office said reports of his death were fabricated.

“These are fake news; the Prime Minister is fine,” the office said.

The episode highlights the growing role of misinformation in periods of geopolitical crisis, with analysts noting that unverified claims circulating online can quickly amplify tensions during already volatile moments in the region.

The latest threat from the IRGC reflects the increasingly confrontational rhetoric between Iran and Israel, two long-standing adversaries whose rivalry has intensified amid the broader conflict involving regional allies and the United States.
