Ansar-Ud-Deen Supports Professor Olaofe as Gbajabiamila Unveils Book

The Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria on Saturday threw its full weight behind Professor Musa Adeyemi Olaofe at the public presentation of his new book, Entrepreneurship in Islam: Balancing Profit and Purpose, with the society describing the work as timely, instructive and reflective of Islam’s holistic approach to economic life.

The endorsement was delivered in a goodwill message by the Deputy National President of the society, Dr. Adebayo Ibrahim Yusuf, who spoke on behalf of the National President, Prince Mosediq Adeniji Kazeem, SAN, FCArb, during the book launch held at the Nigerian Air Force Conference Centre, Abuja.

The event, which also celebrated Professor Olaofe’s elevation to the rank of professor, drew Islamic scholars, academics, policy figures and members of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society from across the country. The book was formally unveiled by the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.

Written by Olaofe, a member of the University of Abuja Governing Council and Imam of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Mosque in Abuja, the book explores how entrepreneurial activity can be pursued within the ethical, legal and social boundaries prescribed by Islam. Structured in ten chapters, the text blends conventional entrepreneurship theory with Islamic principles, addressing issues such as profit-making, social responsibility, ethical conduct, gender inclusion, cross-cultural engagement and Islamic finance.

In a scholarly review of the book, Professor Hauwa Imam of the University of Abuja described it as intellectually engaging and accessible, noting that it responds to growing global interest in faith-based and values-driven economic models, particularly in developing economies such as Nigeria.

Speaking for the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, Dr. Yusuf said the occasion was both a celebration of scholarship and a reminder of the responsibility of institutions to nurture young Muslim talent. He said the society’s support for Olaofe from his early years as a young graduate underscored its commitment to capacity building and intellectual growth among its members.

I bring you good tidings from the National President of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Prince Mosediq Adeniji Kazeem SAN, FCArb, the National Executive Council, and the entire membership of our noble and foremost Islamic organization, founded in 1923.

We are proud to have you all here today, to celebrate one of our own, Professor Musa Adeyemi Olaofe, the Imam of our Abuja mosque and a distinguished scholar whose academic prowess has positively shaped national and moral discourse both within and beyond Nigeria.

This auspicious occasion marks two significant milestones in his remarkable academic journey. It serves as the public presentation of one of his many works, Entrepreneurship in Islam: Balancing Profit and Purpose, and celebrates his elevation to the rank of Professor. Such an attainment is no simple feat. They are milestones worthy of celebration and thanksgiving by his family, friends, associates, and Ansar-Ud-Deen Society members worldwide.

As we gather to celebrate Professor Musa Adeyemi Olaofe, the import of today’s gathering must not be lost in our daily interactions and various human endeavors. What is this significance? It is profound and mind-boggling.

It serves as a poignant reminder, particularly for those in positions of authority, to consistently support the aspirations of young Muslims in their respective fields. We must never be associated with talent truncation and the stifling of aspirations of young Muslims pursuing their interests in various fields. The Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (ADS) supports, and will continue to support, the aspirations of all its members. The Society stood by today’s celebrant, providing him with the platform to excel and the environment to nurture his goals, the fruits of which we are witnessing here today. Professor Olaofe joined ADS as a fresh graduate from Bayero University, Kano; had the Society failed to recognize his potential then, we would not be gathered in this hall to honour his achievements now.

I, therefore, challenge every one of us, present today, including our new Professor to always be quick to support the aspirations of young Muslims who cross our paths or work under our direct supervision or serves under us in various committees in our religious organizations, particularly in ADS, the NUMERO UNO of Islamic organizations in Nigeria.

Let me salutes Imam Olaofe, for paying such glowing tribute to one of his benefactors in ADS and, by extension, a light in his career as an Islamic Cleric. His words regarding Sheikh Muhyideen Ajani Bello confirm that he is a truly appreciative individual. We join him in remembering one of the most dedicated and disciplined figures in Nigeria’s modern Islamic circle. It is no exaggeration to say that Sheikh Muhyideen Ajani Bello was an enigma, a mentor, and a beacon to many of us,while he lived and preached across the length and breadth of Nigeria and beyond. In every twist and turn, Sheikh Muhyideen Ajani Bello and his family deserve a special mentioning and our constant payers. Let me borrow from the PEACE Magazine editorial comment on his death to reinforce my assertion: “In today’s Nigeria, Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello, (Allahu Muhyi) era in Islamic propagation, profound preaching, explanatory sermons and bluntness while explaining the words of Allah, either directly to audiences or via, audio and video mechanism, remains unequal in our Time. His eloquent, choice of words, clinical delivery of topics, and pointblank salvos endeared him to millions of Nigerian Muslims”. May Allah be pleased with him.

Regarding the book, though I have yet to read it, given the Islamic pedigree and erudition of the writer, I highly recommend that we all secure copies for our institutions, mosques and libraries. The Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria will do its part by purchasing copies for members of the National Executive Council and encouraging Summit University to acquire it for its library.
