Al-Zalzalah (Golden Words of Allah Ep67)

“On the Day of Judgment, the earth will report all that was done on it. It will say: He did this and that on this day. That is its ‘news.’” (Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 3350)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. All perfect praise is due to Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, the Lord of the Worlds. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah, and Muhammad (pbuh), is His slave and final Messenger.

Surah Al-Zalzalah is a powerful chapter of eight verses, revealed in Madinah, that paints a vivid picture of the Day of Judgment. With striking clarity, Allah describes the great earthquake that will shake the earth to its very core, bringing forth everything hidden within it.

Allah says: “When the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake, and the earth discharges its burdens, and man says, ‘What is [wrong] with it?’ That Day, it will report its news.” (Surah Al-Zalzalah, 99:1-4)

The earth itself will bear witness, testifying to every deed done upon it. Nothing will remain hidden, no action too small, no word too insignificant.

The Prophet (pbuh) explained: “On the Day of Judgment, the earth will report all that was done on it. It will say: He did this and that on this day. That is its ‘news.’” (Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 3350)

This Surah reminds us of accountability. Every step we take, every word we utter, every act of kindness or wrongdoing will be recorded and presented before Allah.

Allah concludes the chapter:

“So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.” (Surah Al-Zalzalah, 99:7-8)

The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Do not belittle any good deed, even if it is meeting your brother with a cheerful face.” (Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2626)

Surah Al-Zalzalah calls to mindfulness to live every day conscious that our actions are recorded, and the earth itself will one day testify. Nothing is wasted in the sight of Allah, and ultimate justice will be established.

Brothers and sisters, may Allah make us among those whose records are filled with righteous deeds, no matter how small, and protect us from actions that lead to regret on the Day of Judgment. Amin.
