University of Abuja to Confer Honorary Doctorate Degree on Yusuf Ali

At its 83rd extraordinary meeting, the Governing Council of University of Abuja now renamed Yakubu Gowon University, approved the award of an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree to Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali, one of Nigeria’s most distinguished legal minds.

The honour, to be formally conferred at the university’s combined convocation ceremony on April 18, 2026, is at once ceremonial and symbolic recognising not just a career, but a lifetime of influence that has stretched across law, philanthropy and faith.

For more than four decades, Professor Ali Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Principal Partner at Ghalib Chambers, has built a legal career defined by depth, discipline and an enduring commitment to justice.
