Türkiye is marking the 102nd anniversary of the founding of its Republic with renewed calls for unity, resilience, and collective progress toward what President Recep Tayyip Erdogan calls the “Century of Türkiye” a vision aimed at positioning the nation as a global power built on sovereignty, stability, and technological advancement.
In a message issued to commemorate Republic Day on Wednesday, President Erdogan congratulated the people of Türkiye, Turkish Cypriots, and citizens abroad, while paying tribute to the nation’s founding fathers and veterans of the War of Independence.

“On this proud day, I wholeheartedly congratulate every one of our 86 million citizens, the Turkish Cypriot people, and our brothers and sisters living abroad,” Erdogan said, adding: “I commemorate with mercy the heroes who made these lands our homeland with their blood and lives.”
The president praised the Republic’s founding leader, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and the early members of the Grand National Assembly, describing them as “architects of a destiny shaped by sacrifice and courage.”
Erdogan said Türkiye had remained steadfast in its pursuit of peace and justice, even as the world faces widening conflicts and humanitarian crises including in Gaza, where Ankara has repeatedly called for an end to civilian suffering.

“We continue to defend justice and humanity wherever our conscience compels us,” he said. “Together, we will build a great, strong, and prosperous Türkiye — a leader in its region and a respected power in the world.”
The president highlighted advances in defence, economy, energy, and diplomacy under the “Century of Türkiye” framework, pledging to sustain growth while deepening national unity. He also reaffirmed Ankara’s commitment to rebuilding earthquake-hit regions, promising that 453,000 new homes will be completed by the end of the year.
Across the world, Turkish embassies and consulates are marking the occasion with ceremonies and receptions reflecting both pride and remembrance. From Berlin to Jakarta, communities have gathered to honour the Republic’s journey from the ashes of war to modern statehood.

In Nigeria, the Turkish Embassy in Abuja is set to host members of the Turkish community, Nigerian partners, and friends of Türkiye later today, as part of events marking the 102nd Republic Day anniversary.
Ambassador H.E. Mehmet Poroy is expected to address guests at the celebration, which will spotlight Türkiye’s deepening relations with Nigeria in education, investment, and humanitarian cooperation.
Members of the growing Turkish community in Nigeria, including representatives of Turkish businesses, schools, and cultural foundations, are also expected to take part. The evening reception, according to embassy officials, will reflect Türkiye’s enduring message of peace, partnership, and progress — values that continue to shape its identity more than a century after its founding.
