Sultan, Others Honour NASFAT’s 30-Year Legacy

At Abuja launch of The First 25 Years, leaders hail group’s impact on faith, charity, and national unity.

A galaxy of Nigeria’s most respected leaders will tomorrow, Wednesday, August 13, 2025, gather at the Yar’Adua International Conference Centre, Central Business District, Abuja, for the official launch of Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society: The First 25 Years, the maiden history book chronicling the remarkable journey of one of Nigeria’s most influential Islamic organisations.

Authored by eminent historian and Pro-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Siyan Oyeweso, the book captures NASFAT’s transformative path since its founding in 1995, detailing its spiritual leadership, humanitarian projects, and expansion into a global organisation with over 360 branches worldwide.

Expected to headline the event is His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, who will serve as Chief Host. He will be joined by NASFAT President, Alhaji Ayodeji AbdulWahid AbdulRauf (Host); Chairman of NASFAT Board of Trustees, Alhaji Abdul-Lateef Olasupo; NASFAT Chief Missioner, Imam Maroofdeen AbdulAzeez Onike; and Chairman of NASFAT National Council of Elders, Alhaji Yinus Saliu.

The distinguished guest list also includes Alhaja Moji Hafsa Bello, Chairman of the NASFAT History Book Editorials; National Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Ganiyat Omowunmi Babalola; the book’s consultant and author, Prof. Oyeweso; and Prof. Mahfouz A. Adedimeji, Vice Chancellor of the African School of Economics (The Pan-African University of Excellence, Abuja), who will review the book.

The 25-year chronicle promises to unveil NASFAT’s founding vision, early challenges, defining milestones, and the personalities behind its enduring impact. It will also feature rare archival photographs and narratives illustrating how NASFAT’s blend of faith, education, healthcare, women empowerment, and youth development has reshaped communities both in Nigeria and abroad.

The launch comes on the heels of NASFAT’s widely praised 30th Anniversary Lecture held earlier this year in Lagos, which featured former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), and was chaired by legal luminary Wale Babalakin (SAN). Tomorrow’s Abuja gathering is expected to match and possibly surpass that prestige.

Planning for the landmark occasion is led by Alhaji Ibrahim B. Bello (Chairman) and Prince Lekan Olasupo (Secretary, National Youth), underlining NASFAT’s commitment to celebrating three decades of spiritual service, leadership, and national unity.
