Qatar Charity Opens Al-Mustafa Mosque and Quran Centre in Accra, Ghana

The newly inaugurated Al-Mustafa Mosque in Accra, backed by Qatar Charity, serves as a hub for worship, education, and spiritual growth for both military personnel and the local community.

Qatar Charity (QC), with support from the people of Qatar, has inaugurated the Al-Mustafa Mosque near Military Hospital No. 37 in Accra, Ghana. The new mosque, equipped with modern facilities, also houses a Qur’an Memorisation and Studies Centre, serving both military and civilian communities.

The inauguration ceremony drew high-profile attendees, including Ghana’s Chief of Naval Staff, Vice-Admiral Issa Adam Yakubu, who described the mosque as a “modern beacon of faith” that reflects unity and religious diversity in the country. Other guests included Commander of Military Hospital No. 37 Colonel Prosper Aibor, Director of Religious Affairs Brigadier-General Kumi Wood, and Tariq Marabi, representative of the One Ummah Organisation in Ghana.

Colonel Aibor expressed appreciation on behalf of the senior military leadership, thanking QC and Qatari donors for their contributions. Brigadier-General Wood emphasised the mosque’s value as a spiritual and educational sanctuary for both military staff and civilians.

Marabi praised QC’s longstanding reputation and credibility in Ghana, saying it played a vital role in securing support from individual donors. He urged continued efforts to give back to the local community, which he described as a place that has offered opportunity and growth to many.

Engineer Hassan Oda, QC’s director in Ghana and Ivory Coast, highlighted the mosque’s broader purpose beyond worship — serving as a hub for learning, community development, and spiritual upliftment.
