Professor Edeaghe of Uni Benin Embraces Islam in Minna

Prof. Edeaghe, now Prof. Hassan, cites personal conviction in faith declaration

Professor Edeaghe of the Department of Medicine, University of Benin has joined the fold of Islam during the Jumu’at prayer at the Bosso Estate Juma’at Mosque, Minna.

The Chief Imam of Bosso Estate Central Mosque, Dr. Umar Farooq Abdullahi, mpi, who is also the Director-General, Niger State Bureau for Religious Affairs warmly welcomed the Professor by leading him in the declaration of faith (Kalimatu Shahada) while breaking the Jumma’at sermon (Khuthba).

Prof. Edeaghe who is now Prof. Hassan has initially responded to the Chief Imam’s questions on his decision to join the Muslim faith stated that his decision was entirely voluntary, free from any external influence. The professor reaffirmed that his conversion to Islam was a personal conviction, driven by sincere belief in the teachings of Islam.

The Chief Imam then briefed the convert on the Islamic core principles, the five pillars of Islam, the beauty of the religion, and its message of peace before guiding Prof. Edeaghe now bearing the Muslim name Hassan in the sacred testimony of faith. This historic occasion marks a new chapter in the professor’s spiritual journey, and the Muslim community warmly welcomed him into the fold of Islam.
