MUSWEN Commissions Agbeni Shopping Complex to Boost Revenue

In fulfillment of an earlier confirmation by the President of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, the organization on Sunday, commissioned a shopping complex at the popular Agbeni Market, Ibadan, Oyo State.
In an interview with PEACE Magazine, Alhaji Oladejo had stated: “We have taken steps to shore up our finances. Currently, we are building about 12 shops in the Agbeni area of Ibadan for commercial purposes on a land donated by a brother. We are also preparing to build on our land at GRA, Ibadan, Oyo State, a new secretariat, so that the current secretariat can then be rented out for commercial purposes.”
That promise came to fruition with the unveiling of the Alhaja Taibat Ali Mall, a modern shopping complex transformed from a structure earlier donated by Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, a member of MUSWEN Board of Trustees.
Speaking at the commissioning, Alhaji Oladejo expressed the association’s gratitude to Prof. Ali for what he described as a “landmark gesture.”
MUSWEN has transformed this space into a masterpiece we are all witnessing today,” he said, while praying Allah’s reward for the donor.
He further disclosed another significant donation, a two-room bungalow at the Federal Housing Estate, Lugbe, Abuja, gifted by Dr. AbdurRauf Babalakin, OFR, SAN, Chairman of MUSWEN Board of Trustees.
According to him, “Preparations are in top gear towards reconstruction and modernisation of the Lugbe property very soon.”
Oladejo enthused that with the new commercial structure at the bustling Agbeni Market, MUSWEN’s revenue stream will be further boosted. He also commended the designer and supervisor of the project, Alhaji Murisiku Abidemi Siyanbade, Chairman of MUSWEN Property Development Committee, for ensuring its completion “in record time.”
Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, who donated the land, charged wealthy Muslims to continue supporting Islamic institutions and community development projects.
He expressed delight that the mall was named after his mother, Alhaja Taibat Ali, who was present at the event. “This is a legacy that gladdens my heart,” he remarked, urging others to emulate similar charitable contributions.
Earlier, MUSWEN’s pioneer Executive Secretary, Prof. Dawud Noibi, led prayers and lauded the consistent support of Prof. Ali and Dr. Babalakin. He described such acts of giving as noble sacrifices in the path of Allah.
“Spending in the cause of Allah as they have done is a rewarding act that will never go unrewarded by the Almighty,” he said, encouraging others to follow suit.
Also, Prof. Latifat Durosinmi prayed for Allah’s blessings on the donors, MUSWEN leadership, and members for the successful completion of the project.
The event’s vote of thanks was delivered by MUSWEN Executive Secretary, Prof. Muslih Tayo Yahya.
The commissioning ceremony was graced by MUSWEN Deputy President I, Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti, board members, senior officials of the association, Muslim leaders across the region, and dignitaries from academic and religious institutions.
