Ministry of Awqaf to Host Seminar on Knowledge and Revelation

Quarterly forum to examine the role of revelation and reason in Islamic knowledge production.

The Ministry of Awqaf, through its Department of Islamic Research and Studies, has announced plans to hold a seminar on January 6 at the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd Al Wahhab Mosque after the Isha prayer.

Director of the department, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Thani, said the seminar is one of the department’s key intellectual activities and reflects the ministry’s commitment to advocacy, cultural development and the promotion of knowledge rooted in divine revelation.

He explained that the seminar is part of a quarterly cultural, intellectual and scientific project that brings together leading scholars and experts to examine social issues, propose solutions and address negative trends affecting individuals, society and the wider Muslim community.

According to him, the upcoming edition will focus on “understanding revelation” as a central pillar of knowledge production in Islamic civilisation.

The discussions will be organised around three main themes. The first will examine the roots and foundations of knowledge production in Islamic civilisation, highlighting its historical and intellectual bases.

The second theme will explore the principles that ensure the continuity of intellectual contribution, with emphasis on the role of reason in understanding religious texts to sustain scholarly development.

The third theme will look to the future, focusing on developing a forward-looking vision for knowledge production through the interaction between revealed knowledge and rational thought.
