Over 5,000 Muslims gathered in Ibadan, Oyo State, for the ninth Ibadan Eldfest, an Islamic event organised by The Muslims to mark the end of Ramadan.

The programme took place at the University of Ibadan Central Mosque and brought together Muslims including families, scholars, students, and professionals. It created a peaceful and enjoyable environment where people could celebrate Eid, interact, and strengthen their bond as a community.

The coordinator, Barrister Mahmudat Yussuf, explained that the event started in 2018 to provide Muslims with a more engaging and meaningful way to celebrate Eid. She said it was designed to bring people together in a halal and family friendly setting.

Speakers at the event reminded Muslims that Ramadan is not just a period of fasting, but a time to build good character, discipline, and closeness to Allah. They encouraged attendees to continue practicing these values even after Ramadan.

An Islamic scholar Dr. Daud Amoo Alaga stressed that Ramadan teaches piety, self control, and obedience to Allah’s commands. He urged Muslims not to abandon the good habits they developed during the holy month, describing spiritual growth as a continuous journey.

Other speakers also highlighted that Ramadan serves as a form of spiritual training, teaching Muslims how to pray, give charity, and relate well with others. They said these lessons should remain part of daily life.

The event was also described as a positive development for Muslim youths, giving them a proper environment to relax, learn, and enjoy themselves in line with Islamic teachings.

Participants expressed gratitude for witnessing the end of Ramadan and prayed for more opportunities to observe it. They also noted that such gatherings help strengthen unity, promote Islamic values, and support small businesses within the Muslim community.
