Humanity has lost its purpose, Ahmadiyya Amir warns amid global tensions

The leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria in Nigeria, Barrister Alatoye Azeez Folorunso, has called for global peace rooted in love, worship and respect for human dignity, saying the world’s instability reflects a departure from the “purpose of human creation.”
In an Eid-ul-Fitr message marking the end of Ramadan, titled “Seek the Love of Allah to Achieve the Purpose of Your Creation,” he said the just-concluded fasting period served as a reminder for Muslims to return to spiritual discipline and moral responsibility.
He said the Ramadan period was “a trying time not only for the Muslim Ummah but for all of mankind,” pointing to global tensions, including conflict in the Middle East, which he said had pushed the world close to wider escalation.
According to him, such crises would not arise if humanity lived in accordance with divine commandments, stressing that obedience to God and respect for fellow human beings were central to peace.
Barrister Alatoye quoted the Qur’an, including verses from Surah Al-Imran and Surah Adh-Dhariyat, which emphasise following divine guidance and the purpose of worship as the reason for human creation.
He said misuse of human freedom and disregard for moral instruction had contributed to global instability, likening it to using a product contrary to its intended design.
“A product used wrongly will not only fail to work, but will also create additional problems,” he said, adding that the same principle applies to human society when it deviates from divine purpose.
He also referenced the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad and the founder of the Ahmadiyya movement, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), saying true love for God is demonstrated through worship and upholding the rights of others.
He warned that much of the world’s conflict stems from prioritising self-interest over divine obedience and human rights, adding that this imbalance has driven instability globally.
Citing recent guidance from the worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, he said some people have mistakenly placed their trust in worldly powers, institutions and alliances, believing they guarantee peace and security.
“Unfortunately, the opposite has been the case,” he said.
The Amir said Ramadan should serve as a lasting reminder of spiritual renewal, discipline and compassion, noting that Muslims are encouraged during the month to increase worship, avoid conflict and support the needy.
He urged believers to sustain the spirit of Ramadan beyond the fasting period, saying acts of worship, charity and humility should continue throughout the year.
