Emir of Jama’are felicitates Dr Adamu Abdullahi on Life Patron honour

Describes him as an exemplary son, lauds PEACE Magazine for promoting Islamic values and empowering young women

The Emir of Jama’are, Mallam Nuhu Ahmad Wabi, mni, has congratulated Dr Adamu Ahmed Abdullahi, the Sa’in Jama’are, on his investiture as a Life Patron of AS-SALAM (The PEACE) Magazine, describing the recognition as a testament to his record of public service and community impact.

In a statement issued by the Jama’are Emirate Council, the Emir praised The PEACE Magazine for its long-standing commitment to promoting Islamic values, education, and moral awareness, especially among young Muslims in Nigeria.

He said the recognition of Dr Adamu reflects both his contribution to national development and his continuous support for initiatives that advance knowledge, ethics, and the visibility of Muslim excellence.

“We have watched AS-SALAM Magazine play an active role in propagating Islamic virtues and highlighting the achievements of our young women in various fields of human endeavour,” the Emir said. “Sa’i, your dedication, support and impact have clearly been appreciated by the publishers, and this honour is a recognition of that commitment.”

The monarch added that the Jama’are Emirate Council views the appointment as a source of pride, noting that Dr Adamu’s career embodies the principles of integrity, discipline, and service that the community holds dear.

“Your induction as Life Patron clearly depicts the exemplary character and dedication with which you have served in various public roles,” he said. “We are confident that you will continue to inspire others and contribute to the common good.”

Dr Adamu Ahmed Abdullahi, FNIM, is a media executive, administrator, and public servant with over four decades of experience across Nigeria’s information, communication, and aviation sectors.

Born in Jama’are, Bauchi State, into the family of the late Alkali Ahmadu Dandada, a respected Islamic scholar and jurist, Dr Adamu received his early Qur’anic education before attending Rumfa College in Kano. He later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Arts from the New York Institute of Technology, a Master’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Jos, and two doctoral degrees in Business Administration and Public Administration.

He began his career at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), where he rose through the ranks to become General Manager of Bauchi State Television. His public service record includes appointments as Bauchi State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Executive Director at the New Nigerian Newspapers, and Federal Commissioner at the Federal Character Commission.

In the aviation sector, Dr Adamu has held senior management positions at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), where he was pioneer Director of Consumer Protection.

He later served as Executive Commissioner for Operations  and briefly Acting Executive Vice Chairman at the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), where he promoted consumer rights and regulatory reforms.

Dr Adamu was turbaned in 1994 as Sa’in Jama’are ‘the Emirate’s Minister of Religious Affairs’ and in 2024 was conferred with the traditional title of Aroba of Owu Kingdom by His Royal Majesty. Oba Adewunmi Ogunleye, Arole Olowu, Owu Kingdom, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The Emir described the Life Patron recognition as both symbolic and practical, linking it to the magazine’s mission of using media as a platform for moral guidance and social responsibility.

“This is not just a title but a call to service,” he said. “It reflects a shared vision of fostering education, moderation, and compassion within the Ummah.”

He prayed for Allah’s continued guidance for Dr Adamu and for the success of the publication’s future initiatives.
