Baba Adinni Pays Tribute to Chief Imam of Owo, Sheikh Aladesawe

Ondo Muslim Ummah, League of Imams and Alfas mourn revered leader

The Baba Adinni of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola, has extolled the late Chief Imam of Owo, Sheikh (Dr.) Imam Ahmad Olagoke Aladesawe, describing him as a guardian of the Qur’an and a custodian of prophetic traditions.

Sheikh Aladesawe, who was also the Chairman of the League of Imams and Alfas in Ondo State and Secretary-General of the League across Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the age of 91.

In a condolence message, Isola said the late cleric embodied humility, wisdom and justice, adding that his passing was not only a loss to Owo but to the entire Muslim Ummah in Yorubaland.

“Sheikh Aladesawe was not just a Chief Imam; he was a bridge of unity among Muslims, a lamp of knowledge and a voice of peace,” he said.

He recalled that the deceased spent decades offering selfless service to Islam and humanity, noting that his leadership left enduring footprints for generations to follow.

“At 91, Sheikh Aladesawe lived a life that reflected the Qur’anic injunction that the most noble is the most righteous. His deeds, not just his years, were his true legacy,” Isola added.

The Baba Adinni extended condolences to the family of the late scholar, the Muslim community of Owo, and the wider Ummah across Ondo, Edo and Delta States. He prayed Allah to forgive Aladesawe’s shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannah Al-Firdaus.
